Draft Feedback

Peer and Audience Feedback

Cover:
  • Using black or white text for the masthead may have a more professional look
  • Masthead could be better defined - block text - possibly one layer/no 3D effect
  • Masthead could be improved by using drop shadow/outer glow/bevel effects as opposed to a sold shadow look
  • Colour scheme could be improved - shade of orange is perhaps isn't vibrant enough? - consider adjusting colours?
  • Could just use red colour from title? This colour matches the image better
Contents:
  • Contents has a very cluttered and busy appearance - could be better layed out
  • Typography used in title doesn't work - could match cover
  • Contents should have better quality images of other people as well as the cover artist
  • Do further research into existing products for ideas

Double Page Spread:
  • Layout could be improved - cluttered
  • Images are poor quality
  • 'polaroid' style images look unrealisticly presented - amature
  • Font doesn't work at all - too big - clumpy
  • Font for quote looks odd
  • colour scheme very dark - contrasts cover and contents to much
  • Font within double page spread could be more exciting and interesting for title/artists name
  • A more exciting looking typography could improve the feel of the page and the overall appearance as it is currently quite dark and not entirely conventional to the pop genre
General:
  • Quality of photographs could be improved, as well as editing
  • Better editing would improve overall finish of magazine and give a more professional finish
  • Fonts could be altered to create a clearer/cleaner finish
  • Contents should have better quality images of other people as well as the cover artist

Test Shots for Draft Products

Here are my test shot photos, taken for my draft media products; some of these images are very dark which could effect the overall quality and professional finish of the photographs. However, I intend to adjust and edit these within Photoshop CS5 for the first draft products. Once I have done this and recieved feedback on my photographs and final product, I may consider retaking some photographs:

Pitch, Feedback and Evaluation

Animoto for my Pitch:

Presentation:

I think my pitch went well. I had some good feedback and felt  it helped me to develope my magazine and initial ideas. I felt that my idea was well recieved making my feel i can continue with this idea now and develope it further. I still don't have a name for my magazine and i didn't have and suggestions.

Audience: My music magazine would be brought by a pop music fan with a specific interest in chart music. This person would be typically female and a 'trendie'.
Model: I have decided to use a mid shot or full body shot for my cover to best show the outfit that i use; as i want to have a heavy emphasis on the fashion as well as music. I will pick an outfit for the model by taking inspiration from famous singers within my genre such as Jessie J and Lady Gaga; as i want  the style used to connotate links with these artists.
Masthead: I want my masthead to be big and bold, taking up the majority of the top third. This will help to emphasise the magazines name and help it to stand out; whilst also implimenting the conventional rule of thirds.
Colour Scheme: I have decided to stick with my original colour scheme of Black, White and Orange, as i felt this was a well recieved idea in my pitch. The use of bright colours will help it stand out and the use of orange, as an uncommon colour for a magazine, will make it look unique and original.
Cover: my cover is going to use the conventional rule of thirds.
Photos: I hope to use shots from gigs and concerts on my contents page to show the other elements of my magazine.
Cost: My magazine will cost £3.00, as this is an average price for a magazine containing the amount i intend it to contain.
