Post-Feedback Changes - Cover

Looking back at my draft products after recieving feedback, there are several changes to improve my final products professional finish, the following are considerations and changes that I intend to make for my front cover:

Photographs:
The photographs that I havve used within my first draft product were not high enough quality to give a professional look, for this reason I intend to take new photographs using a better camera. Whilst taking these photos I also intend to improve the artist's hair and make-up to make them more dynamic as this will help to create a statement and greater impact, especially on the cover. I will also use different costuming for the artist as I feel that the current clothing within my first draft photographs create a casual look that doesn't stand out enough on the cover; I feel a more generic and coventional appearance for the artist would be a more glamours one. Due to this, I have done some further research into existing pop magazine covers, such as Billboard, to find examples of the type of look I was to achieve and also what shot types, angles and lighting features could work well for this. The images below are the one I felt best represent they type of cover I intend to create, with the artist having a glamourous appearance in bright colours. My favourite of the three is the Miley Cyrus purple cover, I like this cover because I feel the image has a bold impact and gives the magazine a strong finish; this is something I would like to recreate.

Editing:
The feedback I recived on my first draft would suggest that the editing on my photographs needed some improvements as it did not have a proffessional finish. In order to help get my skills on photoshop to a better level I intend to use tutorial videos available on YouTube, such as the ones below, to help me.

Fonts and Masthead
After feedback on my draft product I have decided to experiment with making some changes to the fonts used and the masthead. I feel that my current masthead does not have a strong enough impact due to the use of 3 colours. I plan to create a flat masthead in one colour, similar in design to the mastheads from 'Billboard' and within the covers below from 'Fader'. Although 'Fader' is a differnent kind of music magazine, which had a large focus on bringing underground artists out into the mainstream, and hip/hop, rap and indie genre influences, it does feature many top artists, something I would intend my own magazine to do. The masthead within Fader works really well as it is simplistic but still stands out and has a recognisable impact; the font used within the masthead is also simple, I intend to find a similar font for my own magazine.

Colour Scheme:
Feedback has suggested that some colour elements within my work need changing or adjusting. Due to this I have decided to look into what adjustments and changes could be made using a website called www.colorschemedesigner.com. This website allowed me to find my key colour of orange and match other, new ideas to it, such as in the sceen prints below which offers ideas on contrasting colours. These colours (first screen print - orange, blue and green) are much more vibrant in comparison to those within my draft, this could improve the overall finish and impact of the cover and other elements of the magazine. Looking back at my draft and feedback, I am also considering using a coloured background as this is common within many pop genre magazines, which can be seen within all the examples within this post. A coloured background could also help to create more contrast on the cover and make a better impact on the reader when they see the product on a shelf. The use of this vibrancy could also help to emphasise the conventional pop genre element of bright colours.
